Terms of Use

These conditions govern every visit, search, and use of Harris County Criminal History. Accessing the website signifies agreement with them. A visitor who does not agree should discontinue use.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website has no connection to a local, Texas, or federal government body. It and its advertising partners do not offer a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other decisions regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Harris County record-resource information is provided for general reference. We are neither a private investigation business nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site with no government affiliation. It does not store official criminal records, submit filings, retrieve government files, or perform official checks.

Its content identifies Harris County custodians and official systems, including HCSO, the District Clerk and criminal courts, Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. Some pages also connect visitors to independently operated research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use is conditioned on the following restrictions. You will not:

  • Use automated scrapers, bots, or similar collection tools against these pages
  • Attempt unauthorized entry into any system or account
  • Use the website in violation of federal, Texas, or local law
  • Interfere with performance or another visitor's access
  • Use any information to threaten, stalk, or harass a person
  • Rely on content for a lending, insurance, housing, or hiring decision

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

No information obtained here or through a linked tool may be used to stalk, intimidate, threaten, harass, or discriminate against anyone. Misuse can violate the law. Texas registry data is published for public-safety awareness under Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 62, not for vigilante conduct or prohibited discrimination. General criminal laws still apply to threats, trespass, property damage, and violence, while Article 62.0061 provides a civil penalty for specified misuse of a specialized registry extract.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and produce no consumer, credit, or background report. Our services and those of advertising partners are not offered for FCRA-regulated screening. You agree not to use information from this website or a linked tool to:

  • Set insurance terms or evaluate creditworthiness
  • Make an employment decision
  • Assess a housing applicant or prospective tenant
  • Determine eligibility for a license, benefit, or permit when regulated by the FCRA
  • Carry out any other purpose governed by the FCRA

A person needing a check for a regulated purpose must use Texas Department of Public Safety or a provider that complies with the FCRA and the law governing that purpose.

5. No Legal Advice

General explanations about Harris County records are not legal advice. Only a licensed Texas attorney can advise how a warrant, charge, conviction, expunction, or nondisclosure rule applies to a particular set of facts.

6. No Warranties

All content and functions are supplied "as is." No warranty is made that:

  • An outside search result will be complete or correctly matched
  • Every item of information is current, accurate, or complete
  • The website will remain available without interruption
  • The pages will contain no error, defect, or security weakness

Charges, dispositions, access rules, expunction orders, and agency procedures can change. Gaps and delays are possible. Content here is never an official statement from HCSO, a Harris County court, Texas DPS, or another government office.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links lead to government offices, court systems, legal resources, and outside search services that we do not operate. We are not responsible for another site's availability, charges, information, or data practices. Review that destination's terms before using it.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, code, graphics, and logos belong to Harris County Criminal History or the applicable content partner. They may not be copied, altered, distributed, or used to create derivative material without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, we are not liable for loss or damage arising from use of the website, including reliance on content obtained here or from a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, demands, or proceedings caused by your use of the website or violation of these conditions, including related costs and legal fees.

11. Governing Law

Texas law governs these terms, and a dispute arising from use must be brought in a court located in Texas. Government record access remains subject to the Texas Public Information Act where it applies, while Texas DPS criminal-history dissemination is controlled by Government Code Chapter 411. Those laws do not convert this private website into a government records custodian.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these conditions. An updated version takes effect when it is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be restricted or ended at any time, for any reason, without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue in effect. The affected provision will be adjusted only as far as necessary to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions concerning these conditions may be submitted through the Contact page.
