Why We Built This Site
Texas offers several forms of public access, yet each custodian answers a different question. Harris County Sheriff's Office holds sheriff-created reports and booking data. The Harris County District Clerk maintains felony and Class A or B misdemeanor case files, including filed charges and dispositions. Texas Department of Public Safety operates the statewide criminal-history repository and its public conviction search, while the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and Texas Public Sex Offender Registry serve other distinct needs. This resource brings their verified contact points, portals, request methods, and published fees into a clearer path.
What You Will Find Here
- Agency contacts: verified routes to HCSO, the District Clerk, criminal courts, and Texas systems
- Official check instructions: the difference between DPS name searches and fingerprint personal reviews
- Record guidance: ways to find and interpret Harris County criminal court cases
- Record-clearing context: Texas expunction and nondisclosure basics plus the proper Harris County filing office
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately operated reference resource, not part of a Texas court, police department, sheriff's office, or state agency. Those boundaries limit what we can provide:
- We do not issue certified court papers, rap sheets, or official criminal records
- We cannot interpret a charge, case, or Texas remedy as legal advice
- We do not submit expunction petitions, public-record requests, or other forms for readers
- We cannot perform an official background check or retrieve a person's record
- We cannot promise that an agency's fee, address, or phone number has not changed
An official copy must come from its custodian, such as HCSO, the Harris County District Clerk, or Texas DPS. We can identify that office, but cannot issue its records.
Search Partners
Outside providers power search boxes that appear on some pages. Each provider controls its service, prices, and returned results. A paid registration reached through one of those tools may generate a referral fee for us, which supports free access to this resource. We neither set the provider's charges nor decide what its search returns.
